Pharmaceutical Reactions
It seems a new medicine is announced almost daily. The pharmaceutical industry is committed to developing new drugs which not only aid in healing but are designed to prevent unhealthy conditions from developing. The financial and competitive pressures for bringing a new product to market are enormous. Also, the federal government works hard to prevent dangerous and unproven drugs from reaching the general public. Still, the medical benefits are so potentially great that full testing for all possible reactions is almost impossible.
We are all at risk for adverse pharmaceutical reactions. It's especially risky when a person is taking several prescriptions, or even non-prescription, drugs. Drug interactions are often not fully understood which leaves the person they are trying to help at great risk. Reactions can be minor irritants, but they can also lead to major problems, even death.
California law is very comprehensive when it comes to medical injury or pharmaceutical reaction victims. Because the effects can often be long-lasting and affect a person's ability to make a living, the laws enable the injured to be compensated and receive remedial care as needed.
